Ok this dumb question is there supposed to be a cougar emblem on the trunk lid of a 69 or 70 eliminator? Mine does not have one.

Maybe. There seems to be no good consistant answer to that question. Some cars had one, some didn’t.

I believe all standards, including Eliminators were supposed to receive the Cougar emblem but that may not have happened or it could have fallen off or been knocked off since the glue holding the emblem to the decklid wasn’t that great to begin with.

I would concur, that all 1969 & 1970 Cougars were supposed to receive either the Cougar or XR-7 badge. They were glued on and did not survive.

Dave, I didn’t see one on the back of Waco Cat. Is there any evidence it was ever applied? Or did the emblem come with the car, maybe?
Just curious, since your’s is about the most original and well preserved Eliminator around.

He now asking $39.5k. Going the wrong way
Changed locations too…?

I believe the car IS actually in California, since that’s where the seller is located. Probably posted it in the Phoenix CL to take advantage of the Auction crowd being there.

Yes, the car is in the Sacramento area. I “talked” to him about a different car in his ad and he was posting in AZ for the bored auction crowd.

The passenger side of the dash is wrong, correct? Woodgrain, no clock?

Yes, wrong passenger side dash panel. You would think one of the previous owners would have corrected that over the years.

Not mine, but a very cool Cat!

I like that car. I wonder if the interior would clean up a little better.

Cool! Thanks for the link. That is this one…

I believe the quoted statistics are “currently accounted for” numbers, not actual production numbers. Would be nice to see a Statistics Report on it.

Hi I am new to this forum and I am also the meat ball that owns this Cougar Eliminator.

First of all. I will like to state what really happened. Mike wanted to see the car, but when speaking on the phone with him, he went on and on how he really wanted a 70-71 Cobra Torino, but everyone was too expensive and how people are crazy to ask the prices they are asking. But he still wanted to see my car. So I met him at my garage. When he got there is was all bothered that is alternator light was on his van and couldn’t concentrate. Justifiable, he still had to get home. Sure the car is under a four post lift, I can get into the car all day long, walk around the car…and I am 240lbs I had no idea he was a 400lbs + guy and would have had a hard time looking at the car in an open parking lot. If he sounded a little more serious and he if he told me he was a big guy, I would have moved some cars and accommodated him. But he was negative from the start and I usually don’t even allow people with that attitude to come over…

Hello.

A tad bit late to the conversation, but better late than never I guess.

I weigh 230 pounds, probably less than you, and am willing to drive back with a scale and take pictures and post them of both of us if you like.

The fact is I set up an appointment to view a car you were trying to sell, I told you up front I wanted to inspect the car, told you exactly the areas of the car I was going to need to see in detail.

I drove up there and as soon as you opened the door, I knew there was no possible way to inspect the car because of how it was stored.

End of conversation, best of luck, have a nice day.

Mike Howard.
