Restoration Slot open starting January 2019

If you don’t want to wait 1+ years for a restoration spot to open @ KTL, then Taylor restorations is your answer. We have a recently opened spot for a full restoration available starting in January 2019. Contact us now to hold your spot. We have very reasonable labor rates, and our quality is top notch. We can handle all aspects of your restoration, from engine work, transmissions, metal repair, paint, interior, and more.

If you don’t have your own “dream Cougar” to restore, then consider purchasing one of our “project” Cougars to fill the void. We have quite an extensive selection at the current time, please see the list below. Factory colors are listed, but color can be changed if desired.

…someday! Have to wait for the kid to finish college, and the house to get paid off. Probably about 6-8 years down the road still :-/

Didn’t know Grabbers came with 6 cylinders. Mine was a ‘72 with a 302 and a 3 speed.

From Hemings:

Wondering whether a particular Maverick is a real V-8-powered Grabber or not? The easiest way to tell without insulting the owner is by checking out the VIN: The third and fourth digits should be a 93, which indicate Maverick Grabber. (A standard Maverick coupe has a 91 code.) The engine code, in this case F for the 302-cu.in.V-8, is the fifth digit in the VIN. Anything else was born with a straight-six.

I looked cuz I had a 74 or 75 in high school briefly with the grabber trim. IIRC, it had a six

I’d love to find one someday. My dad saved one of the emblems before we scrapped it. And I still have the block and one of the heads.

Are you sure that those VIN body code numbers are correct? Those are the same numbers used for standard and XR-7 Cougars and I did not think that Ford used the same numbers for two different lines that were in production at the same time.

CCOA #95

Sourced from Hemmings as noted. No other info

VIN # from the Maverick Grabber is 1K93L162630. So you are correct, the body code is 93, same as a Cougar XR7!
I didn’t know that, so I learned something new today. Paint Code D = Bright Yellow (Grabber Yellow). Thanks!

When the Grabber was introduced as a mid-year promo/option, you could only get a 250 six…I believe the '71 Comet GT had the V8 first, then Ford offered it in the Grabber!

We have booked some short term work, but we are STILL looking for someone wanting to do a longer term restoration on a rare Cougar, Mustang, Cyclone or Torino in 2019.

We recently evaluated Kevin Marti’s 1970 428CJ XR7 convertible (one of just 49 made) - but Kevin ultimately decided to sell the car as a “project” rather than as a restored car. It is a white car with dark red interior, automatic.

In order to self fund restoration work, I will consider selling any of the Cougars listed below “as is” or project cars. Most of these cars had have some work already started, or come with some new parts, like restored chrome, new carpet, new weatherstrip, etc. Most of these cars are complete. Prices listed are “ball park” and negotiable depending on what is needed. We can do as little or as much work as you want on these projects.
