Eliminators on the Market (November 2020)

Well, seems like winter here has finally started. Time to get to work turning some wrenches, I suppose!

BEWARE OF SCAM LISTINGS OF ELIMINATORS FOR SALE!
Scammers are using pictures from legitimate listings (old and current) and passing them off as their car that is for sale, at prices well below market value. Always verify the car is real and the VIN is legitimate by checking with the CCOA or Eliminator Registry.
Also be sure to order your own Marti Report. Scammers have been doctoring Marti’s and changing VINs. Marti will not charge you for an invalid VIN.
Never send a deposit without confirming there is actually a real Eliminator associated with the listing.
And as always, remember that if it is too good to be true then it is probably a scam.

The numbers in the listing are incorrect. There were 2,268 Eliminators built in 1970. 466 of them were painted Competition Orange. There are currently well over 100 accounted for in that color, and about 650 of the 1970 Eliminators accounted for altogether.
Now if you break it down by engine / trans / paint / trim, then I think we can probably get it down to single digits as far as how many are left.

Why Special Paint? Was this car originally a different color?

It was special ordered as red, but was painted Competition Orange by the factory. The special paint is notated on the invoice with an adjustment for the charge. The original owner decided to accept it in the not as ordered color.

Do your due diligence…

'70 w/ 351, Auto. Competition Green, Houndstooth Interior. Marti not provided. In NY for $18k
https://www.facebook.com/commerce/listing/206571177573510/
*No VIN provided

*Been trying to get a VIN or picture of the Marti for a few days on this one. Seller doesn’t want to provide either one to anyone.

Has all the makings of being a fake. He is following all the guide lines of how NOT to sell a car. The interior looks nice.

I know. But he was still able to sell it! Not sure who bought it. Hopefully they’ll chime in somewhere online or post some pics of their new prize and we can get in touch with them and get a VIN and / or Marti.

Even if it’s a clone, at $18k that’s not a horrible price for a good looking car.

Hello all. Spotted this 70 351 project on C-L today: 0F91M508925. Comp Blue w/ Black Decor & Houndstooth. Early build, so might have glue-in door glass? Seller has Marti report pictured in ad listing and is asking $11K cash (firm). Camera case fascia & center dash courtesy delete insert are all (3) present.
The rear spoiler appears warped, so it might be a repro unit? Marshall, MN area. https://marshall.craigslist.org/cto/d/granite-falls-for-sale-1970-mercury/7238033764.html

Thanks Gary!

I’m told there is a deal pending on that one. Sure didn’t last long!

And a much better presentation.

Yes! …unfortunately you can see more of the items that need attention >.<

I did inquire about getting high / full resolution pics, and pics of the underside. Would be nice to add those to my collection.
