Eliminators on the Market (December 2017)

Projects are coming along slowly but surely! Motor & trans mounts done. PS ram seals done. Carb ready to send off for restoration. Turn signal switch replacement in progress. Heater core, dash relamp and 8-track resto in the queue. And busy compiling Eliminator data, as always

If you know of an Eliminator for sale or are looking for an Eliminator, please feel free to post here, or contact me. Iā€™ll do my best to help you find the Eliminator you are looking for, or help find a new home for your Eliminator, if possible. Send me a PM or email me directly at: EliminatorSearch@CougarClub.org

*NOTE: This is not a factory Hertz Sunroof car. The hole cut appears completely wrong, and the VIN falls well outside the range of 1970 Hertz Elimiminators. It is also not a factory ram-air car, as no 351ā€™s received ram-air from the factory.
Notice the notched shock towers. Interesting that the seller says ā€œthe reinforced shock towersā€¦ look to be original.ā€ Well, definitely the originals with the VIN stamps in the top, but certainly heavily modified!

There is the Eliminator and a 1970 XR7 parts car.

Yeah, seller didnā€™t even mention whether or not it is included in the auction :-/

*The original engine / trans was pulled by a previous owner of the Eliminator back in 1978/79, when he was planning to use them for restoration of his Boss 302 Mustang. The Eliminator was then sold with a 351C/FMX drivetrain to a fellah who refurbished the car, painting it Competition Blue. He also tracked down Boss parts (from a Boss Mustang!) and took his Cat to many track events over the years, like Pocono and Watkins Glen. Around 1995 it was sold to another owner who also raced it. After that it went to Sonny Morgan, who had the car restored to original specs. Afterwards it was featured in the October 2004 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines: http://www.hemmings.com/magazine/mus/2004/10/Quick-Cat---1970-Boss-302-Eliminator-Cougar/1280844.html

That original drivetrain? Well, it never did find its way into a Mustang, and it has been sitting in the early ownerā€™s shop for the last 40 years or so.
The original VIN-stamped engine and transmission for this car turned up in Aug2017, but I was not able to track down the current owner of the car at that time. However, I have sent a message to Barrett-Jackson asking to make contact with the owner. Hopefully this one will again be made ā€œnumbers matchingā€ in the near future!

Rough oneā€¦
