1970 - 1974 Rimblow Steering Wheel / NEW REPRODUCTION!

If someone would like to be the first in the country to try this new item out I would let them have it for $650 delivered if you would do an in depth review on it the day you get it in hand. Randy Carlson did the write up on the 69 version, here is a link to what he wrote.

That’s really cool. Does it come in colors?

Black only

Any plans for other colors? I would be interested in a brown/ginger 1970 one.

No plans. Being virgin material it can be painted and hold up well.

Looks like a nice reproduction. If I hadn’t already spent good money sending mine to New Zealand for restoration, I’d bite. Just wondering why the 70-74 version is $145 more than the 69 version when there is a bigger market for it and it will probably sell much better than the 69.

Nice looking Steering Wheel

There are several factors, one being that when the 69 came out the US dollar was very strong, right now? Not so much… The 69 has a wider application than what you may realize. The Australian Fords used the 69 version until 1975! An Aussie Falcon brings Shelby money these days.

That’s interesting. You’re right Don, I didn’t realize there was a wider application and I know next to nothing about Fords produced in other countries.

Anybody have any experience with Rimblow Restorations in Ventura, CA? The pics of their restored rimblow steering wheels look really nice:

My concern would be that the 50 year old old plastic would be susceptible to more shrinkage and cracking over time post-restoration.

They did mine in 2016 and so far no issues.

Why would you want an “over restored wheel” that’s not correct when the new repro looks near NOS. Want a wood wheel buy a wood wheel.

Yeah, I am not even a fan of the rim blow horn, fake wood grain, or narrow grip. But I like keeping things original. The repro does look great and if it was available in med brown, I would be all over it.

1972 XA Falcon GT has 1970 wheel. 1973 Landau even had a running cat on the wheel centre for the first production run. A few end of production 1972 XY Falcons had 1970 wheel as well as they switched to column mounted ignition switch from early 1972

The textured wood grain on these looks great in the photos. Any possibility of the 1968 XR7 repros getting the same treatment instead of the current smooth finish? I’d buy one.
